(NPSL 2017) New York Cosmos B 1v2 Brooklyn Italians
Sunday 21st May 2017
Rocco Commisso Stadium, New York, Attendance -
Brooklyn
Italians heaped more misery on Cosmos B with a 2nd defeat of the season,
leaving Cosmos B winless after 3 games.
The
Italians took early control of the game, creating chances through the left
wing. Brooklyn Italians duo Frej
Engberg and left winger Harry Cooksley, were able to put the Cosmos back 4
under pressure. The Italians were the first to hit the back of the net with
Rasmus Hansen scoring his first of the campaign in the 17th minute. A true team
goal, 9 Italians touched the ball before Hansen tapped in from close range,
after the same player saw an effort go
wide only minutes earlier.
Both sides were able to create chances later in the half and against the run of play Cosmos drew level when a
Bardic chipped goal leveled with the game tied at the interval.
The second half started at a lively
pace and Cosmos keeper Tenjo made a big save from Hansen, but the Italians were
not to be denied for long. The visitors were given a great opportunity to
regain the lead after being awarded a penalty after a foul by Williams. Harry
Cooksley converted the penalty to make it 2v1.
Cosmos piled on the pressure looking
for another equaliser and Rashid had a great chance after a 1 on 1 and Williams
had an excellent effort brilliantly saved by Italians keeper Bernadi to ensure
a win for the visitors.
