(NPSL 2017) New York Cosmos B 2v1 TSF FC
Thursday 25th May 2017
Rocco Commisso Stadium, New York, Attendance -
Cosmos B finally recorded their
first win of the season at the 4th attempt thanks to a late comeback after
falling behind to TSF FC. The TSF FC keeper Mateo Zabala was called into action
early when he was required to deal with a fierce shot from Bardic. Cosmos were
enjoying the majority of the early possession and won a series of corners,
without managing to find an opening goal.
The game turned physical as Cosmos
players Rashid and Berisha picked up yellow cards, but the home side regained
their composure and Lucas Coutinho went close with a free-kick.
Cosmos had the better of the 1st
half and started the 2nd half on the offensive and won a free-kick in a
dangerous position, but the TSF goal remained intact.
Cosmos were dealt a blow when the
visitors opened the scoring when Lucas Terci scored on the hour mark which
shifted momentum in favour of TSF.
The home side responded by making 2
changes which breathed new life into the Cosmos, Cortez fired a free-kick at
the keeper and Coutinho went close after 72nd minute after some fancy footwork.
Cosmos were handed a lifeline in the
76th minute after a handball led to penalty for the Cosmos, but Jose Najera's
spot kick hit the post, although TSF did not escape unharmed as they were
reduced to 10 men when Tyler Pinho saw red, leaving TSF down to 10 men. Cosmos
did not take long to take advantage of the sending off when Williams converted
a rebound from a Coutinho free-kick.
In the final minutes of the game
both sides were pushing for a winner and it was the Cosmos who would take the
points. Christian Thierjung found Bardic who fired the winner with 5 minutes
remaining.
