(NPSL 2019) New York Cosmos B 6v0 Kingston Stockade

Saturday 6th June 2019
Mitchel Athletic Complex, New York   Attendance -

Cosmos ended the regular season in style blitzing Kingston Stockade 6v0 to clinch the no.1 seed and guarantee home advantage throughout the playoffs. Since losing to the Cosmos in their opening match of the season, Stockade had only lost one match, but were no match for a rampant Cosmos side.
Apart from some early dangerous counter attacks from Stockade it was all Cosmos in the early stages and it was obvious that a breakthrough was imminent as Cosmos swarmed all over Stockade. But the scorer of the goal was a surprise, with Sembroni opening the scoring as the Cosmos defender stayed up front following a set piece and as the ball was crossed into the area he rose unchallenged to head in.
That 28th minute goal opened the floodgates and from the restart sloppy play from Stockade led to a Cosmos corner and the Italian powered in to head a second goal. Another quickfire double strike just before the interval ended any Stockade hopes of getting a result. Again it was poor defending from the visitors as a backpass was latched upon by Bardic who managed to force the ball past the keeper to make it 3v0. Soon after it was 4v0 as Cosmos broke up a Stockade move in the midfield and the Stockade defence were caught short on numbers, The ball was played to Junior Burgos who drilled the ball into the corner of the net to put Cosmos into  commanding position at the interval.
Cosmos continued to create chances in the 2nd half but squandered some early opportunities to increase the score in the early part of the half. New signing Naeem Charles got his name on the scoresheet after the Stockade keeper was caught in no mans land and Charles guided the ball from long range into the unguarded net.
The Stockade keeper managed to stop a couple of Cosmos efforts, but the scoring was not quite over and Giuseppe Barone made it 6v0 with a great strike in the closing minutes.
