(NPSL Members Cup 2019) New York Cosmos B 2v2 Milwaukee Torrent

Saturday 17th August 2019
Mitchel Athletic Complex, New York   Attendance -

Milwaukee stunned the Cosmos with 2 late late goals to snatch an undeserved draw at Mitchel Field. Cosmos Coach Carlos made some changes for the visit of Milwaukee with Danny Szetela and Blanchette having rare appearances on the bench. Attempting to keep the Cosmos from scoring was former Cosmos keeper Tenjo and Aaron Dennis stung his hands twice early as on Cosmos made the early running.
Milwaukee survived the early pressure as the game descended into a midfield tussle with little action at either end. Towards the end of the half Cosmos went close with an effort from Galvao and Al Hassan almost got a vital touch to a ball fizzed across Tenjo's goal.
At the other end Castano in the Cosmos goal was rarely troubled as the half ended 0v0.
If the first half was lacking in action the second half made up for it.
Cosmos almost took the lead seconds into the 2nd half after Tenjo slipped after coming out for a cross, but recovered just in time to tip a Galvao effort wide. But it was only a temporary reprieve as the next effort on goal saw Al Hassan spin and unleash a rocket effort into the net afrer Burgos collected a poor clearance 25 yards out and drilled in past Tenjo..
Cosmos added a second goal after another great strike from Junior Burgos found the net
Cosmos did nit let up and continued to look for further goals and Tenjo had to be quick off his line to deny Aaron Dennis. There was little sign of a Milwaukee comeback apart from one attack where the Torrent went clean through on goal and even that was due to what looked like for a foul on the Cosmos defender that allowed Torrent through on goal.
But against all odds Torrent managed to somehow snatch a draw. With time running out Milwaukee gave themselves a lifeline as Gorman got on the end of a long ball from Tenjo as the Cosmos defence were caught sleeping to loop a strike over Castano.Deep into stoppage time unbelievably Torrent equalised as Cosmos failed to defend another ball into the box. A flick on from a throw-in found Colazzi who headed in from close range.
There was still time for more drama as Cosmos almost regained the lead straight away but an overhead kick flew narrowly over.
