At the other end the Phantoms had a great chance to take the lead through Haji, but Palafox was on hand for the Cosmos to break up the chance. The Phantoms defence was finally breached 7mins before half time when Trey Williams headed in a cross from Castellanos. The home side pushed on in search of a second goal before the interval, but it remained 1v0 at half time. The Phantoms changed their keeper at half time and he was picking the ball out of the back of the net just 8mins into the half as Stahler converted from close range following a corner. Williams had a chance to double the lead on 19mins, but could not connect as NYAC keeper Luna came out to make the stop. Both sides had efforts on goal, but it was the visitors who levelled matters when Berisha caught Zobeck off his line and beat him with a lobbed effort. Cosmos had an opportunity to regain the lead just before half time, but the effort went over the bar. In the second half Mitrano had a couple of   good opportunities to add to his tally, but again the chances were passed up as the score remained level. The visitors were also pressing for the go ahead goal and a...

(NPSL 2016) New York Cosmos B 0v1 Seacoast United Mariners

Friday 13th May 2016 Mitchel Field, New York   Attendance - Cosmos B suffered a first ever defeat in bizarre circumstances to Seacoast United Mariners. The away side turned up late for kick off and due to the limited availability of the pitch, the game was shortened to just 65mins. Despite controlling the game for long periods and managing x3 times as many shots as the opposition, the Cosmos could not make the breakthrough. A flurry of opportunities came in the 29th minute, Mitrano's shot from outside the box forced Mariners keeper Will Pike into a save and from the resulting corner Pike saved from Capozucchi. Castellanos would also shoot narrowly wide with a curling effort as Mariners held on. Against the run of play the visitors took the lead on 31mins. Maxwell Watson sent a long ball upfront to Dimov and he put the ball past Hector Guerrero to score. Cosmos almost levelled matters 6mins later, but Pike made another stop, this time from a Mitrano heade...

Saturday 8th August 2015 Finley Stadium, Chattanooga   Attendance - 18,227 Cosmos B lifted the NPSL Championship after a hard fought victory over Tennessee's Chattanooga FC  after extra time. Although the Cosmos were due to have home advantage for the clash the game was switched to Chattanooga's ground where a NPSL record 18,000+ crowd was in attendance. Cosmos dominated possession in the early stages with some slick passing, but unlike many of the opponents the Cosmos have come up against Chattanooga held firm, dropping deep and putting plenty of players behind the ball to prevent any gaps for the Cosmos to exploit. But after initially being pinned in their own half the home side started to look dangerous and their pacy forwards almost went clean through on 12mins, only for a last ditch tackle to prevent a chance on goal. A minute later and Chattanooga threatened again, capitalising on hesitation between Zobeck and the Cosmos defence, but the ball was scramb...

Image
Sunday 12th July 2015 Mitchel Field, New York   Attendance -   Cosmos B finished the regular season unbeaten after an underwhelming 2v1 victory over Greater Lowell United. The narrow 2v1 victory was a surprise against a side who have only managed one point all season, but it was a Cosmos side missing several regulars, who took part in the game v Phantoms the day before. Neither side created any chances of note in the opening exchanges, but Cosmos B took the lead shortly before the half hour mark through Brito, who took the ball round the keeper before slotting in. Shortly after and the United keeper was tested by Diaby who took down a cross from Andersson before shooting. Cosmos had not hit top form, but Hagop Chirishian was starting to pull the strings and Cosmos made the breakthrough just shy of the half hour mark with Stahler making the breakthrough, tapping in from a low Mulligan cross.
