(NPSL 2015) New York Cosmos B 7v0 Seacoast United Phantoms
Saturday 11th July 2015
Mitchel Field, New York Attendance -
Cosmos
B dished out another hammering in their NPSL match, putting 7 past Seacoast
United Phantoms, no mean feat considering they are still in contention for the
playoffs. Herlein put Cosmos ahead halfway into the first half after a pass
from Bover, who was returning to the B side after an appearance for the first
team.
Cosmos
continued to create chances, Pittman beat 3 players before sending a shot off
target and a minute later Brito attempted to dribble round the Seacoast keeper,
but could not get a shot off.
Cosmos
continued to get efforts on goal, but Seacoast held out until 5mins before half
time when the same combination linked up again, Herlein scored after another
assist from Bover.
Stahler
had a great chance to make it 3v0 in first half stoppage time, but failed to
convert as Cosmos settled for a 2v0 lead at half time.
Seacoast
replaced their keeper at half time, but he was soon picking the ball out of the
net as Cosmos scored another just 4mins into the 2nd half. Again, it was Bover
setting up Herlein, who completed his hat-trick. Brito made it 4v0 on 54mins as
he latched onto a rebound from another effort from Herlein.
The
goals were coming thick and fast now with a 3rd goal in 7mins with Herlein
netting his 4th of the game.
A
save from the Seacoast keeper prevented Bover from getting his name on the
scoresheet after his rocket shot was saved on the hour mark.
As the game entered the final few minutes
Cosmos did not let up and managed 2 more goals. Pittman was denied by the
Seacoast Keeper on 93mins, but was beaten soon after by Diaby, after he had
beaten 2 opposition players.
Rodriguez
completed the scoring with 2mins left with an effort that went in off the
crossbar. The spectacular scoreline was capped off by being awarded the North
Atlantic Conference trophy after the match.
