Image
Saturday 17th June 2017 DePaul Catholic High School, New Jersey,   Attendance -  Even the appearance of first teamer Vranjican could not stop Cosmos B falling to TSF FC, ending a 4 game winning run for the Cosmos. TSF harried the Cosmos well with New York unable to get much possession, with the home side also having little success in the early stages using the longe ball. The first clear chance fell to the home side half way through the first half when unmarked from a corner an effort went narrowly over. Cosmos had produced little, but came desperately close to going ahead after a scramble in the TSF box. The Cosmos player looked set to head in from close range, but TSF managed to somehow stop the ball from going in. The quality in play improved as the half wore on and it needed a stop from Guerrero to deny Tyler Pinho the opener as they cut the Cosmos open after a good move. Guerrero was in action again at the end of the first half as he made a flyi...

The breakthrough came in the 17th minute when Rashid was fouled in the area and Coutinho scored from the spot for the second consecutive match. Cosmos continued to apply the pressure and the Lions keeper made a great save halfway through the first half after Radjen linked up with Ballard. Despite pressure as the half wore on the Cosmos had to settle for a 1v0 lead at half time. The home side added to the scoreline in the 2nd half with goals from David Nigro and Lucas Mendes. The Lions had some opportunities for...

Saturday 10th June 2017 Rocco Commisso Stadium, New York,   Attendance -  Cosmos B extended their winning run to 4 games with a narrow win over Seacoast United Phantoms. In humid conditions Rashid emerged as the main threat to the Phantoms in the early stages, with Theirjung on the other wing also impressing. But it needed an early save by Guerrero in goal for the Cosmos to prevent the visitors taking the lead in the 11th minute, although there were some early efforts from Theirjung for the home side at the other end. Cosmos were forced into a substitution after only 15mins with Alvarez forced off through injury, but soon after Cosmos took the lead from the penalty spot when Williams was felled after a good run. Coutinho stepped up to convert the penalty to put the home side ahead. The visitors responded straight away with Guerrero again called into action to prevent an immediate equaliser, but Cosmos were soon threatening again with efforts from Rashi...

Later on in the half Cosmos looked to go further ahead when a move down the wing involving Rashid and Stahler ended in a cross which Mendes got a touch to, but the ball went wide. Just before half time Cosmos had chances to double the lead as a Mendes chipped effort was stopped and Rashid pounced on the rebound, only for United to see away the danger. Cosmos continued to apply pressure into the 2nd half and the United keeper was almost caught off his line in the 73rd minu...

Saturday 3rd June 2017 Amesbury Sports Park, Massachusetts   Attendance - Cosmos' revival continued with a 3v0 win in Massachusetts against Seacoast Phantoms. Cosmos made a bright start and Bardic had the first opportunity of the game, with his effort going wide. But just one minute later the same player made no mistake, finishing off a through ball from Coutinho. Phantoms continued the pressure for the rest of the half with Brewster and Misiri having efforts that went just wide. Williams had an chance for the Cosmos early in the 2nd half, but it was the Phantoms who were doing most of the pushing and Misiri had further chances to bring his side level. The TSF FC keeper Mateo Zabala was called into action early when he was required to deal with a fierce shot from Bardic. Cosmos were enjoying the majority of the early possession and won a series of corners, without managing to find an opening goal. The game turned physical as Cosmos players Rashid and Berisha picked up yellow cards, but the home side regained their composure and Lucas Coutinho went close with a free-kick. Cosmos had the better of the 1st half and started the 2nd half on the offensive and won a free-kick in a dangerous position, but the TSF goal remained intact. Cosmos were dealt a blow when the visitors opened the scoring when Lucas Terci scored on the hour mark which shifted momentum in favour of TSF. The home side responded by...

Sunday 21st May 2017 Rocco Commisso Stadium, New York,   Attendance -  Brooklyn Italians heaped more misery on Cosmos B with a 2nd defeat of the season, leaving Cosmos B winless after 3 games. The Italians took early control of the game, creating chances through the left wing. Brooklyn Italians duo Frej Engberg and left winger Harry Cooksley, were able to put the Cosmos back 4 under pressure. The Italians were the first to hit the back of the net with Rasmus Hansen scoring his first of the campaign in the 17th minute. A true team goal, 9 Italians touched the ball before Hansen tapped in from close range, after the same player saw an effort go wide only minutes earlier. The second half started at a lively pace and Cosmos keeper Tenjo made a big save from Hansen, but the Italian...

In the 68th minute Saunchez   rifled an effort past Zobeck from the right hand side of the area, but the winner was an even better strike. From outside the area the Cosmos defence allowed the Elm City player to get a shot off and he made them pay as the effort flew into the top corner, again leaving Zobeck with no chance. Cosmos applied late pressure but ...

Saturday 29th April 2017 Brother Gilbert Stadium, Massachusetts,   Attendance -  Cosmos B opened their NPSL campaign with a draw at Boston City in windy conditions. Boston had a good spell early on and were rewarded with a goal. Cosmos lost the ball in their own half and the ball was played to Batista who showed some good footwork to earn him a shooting opportunity and he tucked an effort just inside the post past Zobeck. New York were stung into action and almost replied straight away as Coutinho found Thierjung beyond the Boston defence and he found the net, only to be called offside. But the same 2 players linked up again minutes later to good effect and this time the flag stayed down and Thierjung   produced a fine chip to level the scores. Straight from the restart Boston had a chance to regain the lead but a well struck effort went narrowly wide. With the wind behind them Boston were eager to take a lead into half time and almost edged ahe...

Sunday 10th July 2016 Hofstra University, New York   Attendance - Cosmos B ended the regular season with a resounding win over Kingston Stockade at Hofstra. Cosmos took less than 10mins to open the scoring when McTurk found Castellanos on the edge of the box and his effort found the net. It wasn't long before Cosmos doubled the lead with an unmarked Bedoya making it 2v0 and 2mins later Castellanos was put through by Bedoya and he scored his 2nd of the match after only 20mins. The chances continued to come thick and fast and Bedoya also got his second after a run down the right wing following winning the ball in the midfield. The visitors managed to halt the flood of goals for the rest of the half as they began to see more of the ball, but Castellanos had a chance to complete a hat-trick just before half time after linking up again with Bedoya, but this time Giddings in goal for Stockade prevented further damage. There was a flurry of substitutions in the 2...

Mitrano tried to respond straight away, but was denied by Bernardi in the Brooklyn goal to keep his side ahead. The chances at both ends continued and Guerrero had to come up with a save from Hansen to prevent the Italians going further ahead and that save looked even more important when Ruiz brought Cosmos level soon after. Ruiz was on hand to convert a rebound from a Castellanos effort to level the scores. Cosmos had a series of chances to take the lead before half time, through Ruiz, Bedoya and Mitrano, but the scores remained level at half time. The chances continued into the 2nd half with Bernardi tipping ...

Cosmos took control early on with 2 goals in 2 minutes inside the first 20mins of the game. The opener came from Berterame after 16mins following an assist form Jesus Alvarez and Trey Williams made it 2v0 2 mins later. Rhode Island recovered from the setback and looked to try and reduce the deficit, but instead just before half time the Cosmos added a third, with Berterame setting up Williams to get his second of the game. Any hopes Rhode Island had of getting back into the game took a blow when just 2mins into the 2nd half Bruno Scodari was sent off after picking up a 2nd yellow card as the visitors were reduced to 10 men. Despite the man disadvantage Rhode went close to scoring and soon after that effort did find the net through Lozada-Smith. As the half wore on the Cosmo...

Image
Saturday 18th June 2016 Amesbury Sports Park, Massachusetts   Attendance - Cosmos B consolidated their lead in the Atlantic Conference following a 4v2 victory over Kingston Stockade. It looked like plain sailing for Cosmos after they dominated their opponents in the first 45mins, going in 2v0 at half time. But a crazy start to the second half which saw 3 goals in 4mins, 2 for the home side, made the game more difficult than it should have been, before a late goal sealed the win. Cosmos had to make a substitutions seconds into the game after Trey Williams left the pitch due to illness, with Frankie Castellanos replacing the player. But despite the early change Cosmos had the first chance when a dangerous Castellanos free kick was whipped into the area, but the header from close range was well off target. The home side were struggling to cope with the superior technique and quick passing from the Cosmos and there were a few efforts on the Stockade goal in the ea...
